No personal details or details that can identify the candidate will be publically displayed on the website.
When registering on the website all candidates create a unique user account through which they enter their information. Only the candidate and the staff of Orkney Business Ring can access this user account.
Any job seeker can search the website for vacant positions but only candidates who have agreed to Orkney Business Ring – Labour Agency Ltd terms and conditions can fully utilise the website.
In order to comply with the Recruitment & Employment Confederation’s code of practice, Orkney Business Ring cannot place a candidate with a company unless they have been interviewed. Therefore Orkney Business Ring – Labour Agency Ltd conduct short and informal interviews with all candidates at a time suitable to the candidate.
In order to comply with the Recruitment & Employment Confederation’s code of practice, Orkney Business Ring Labour Agency Ltd cannot place a candidate with a company unless they have credible references for the candidate. Therefore Orkney Business Ring – Labour Agency Ltd request the name and contact details for two referees from each candidate and check these prior to placing the candidate on assignment.
Once Orkney Business Ring – Labour Agency Ltd has interviewed and checked the references for a candidate we will issue our terms of engagement which states that we are looking for work for the candidate and also sets out the terms of employment should we find work for them.
There is no set timescale for finding a suitable assignment for a candidate.
When a candidate is successfully chosen for an assignment, Orkney Business Ring – Labour Agency Ltd will issue an assignment schedule informing the candidate of their position, rate of pay, hours, duties etc. On the start date of this assignment the candidate will be put onto Orkney Business Ring Labour Agency Ltd payroll.
When on assignment candidates must submit their timesheet signed by their supervisor and themselves at the end of their working week and return it to Orkney Business Ring – Labour Agency Ltd by 5pm the following Monday. Candidates are then paid directly into their bank account the following Friday, one week in arrears.
Orkney Business Ring – Labour Agency Ltd pays candidates holiday pay in accordance with the statutory holiday entitlement. All candidates on assignment accrue holidays so the longer the assignment the more holidays the candidate is entitled to.
Bank holidays, when taken, will be treated as part of the candidate’s holiday entitlement or can be taken unpaid.
At the end of an assignment Orkney Business Ring – Labour Agency Ltd will calculate if the candidate has any holiday pay due to them. This holiday pay will be processed along with their hours due and a P45 will be issued.
Orkney Business Ring – Labour Agency Ltd will then carry on looking for work for the candidate, if required.
Assignments can be cancelled at any time by either the candidate or the customer although Orkney Business Ring – Labour Agency Ltd requests that they are given as much notice as possible.
If a candidate is unhappy on an assignment they should contact Orkney Business Ring – Labour Agency Ltd in the first instance and we will try to rectify any issues although the candidate is quite entitled to say that they no longer wish to carry on with the assignment.
A customer can cancel an assignment at any time. Should a candidate’s normal working day be 8am until 5pm and the customer informs the candidate at the end of the day that they are no longer needed then there is no obligation but should the customer inform the candidate during the working day they are obliged to:
A: Allow the candidate to finish the normal working day Or B: Allow the candidate to finish immediately but pay them up until the end of that working day.
